Ryan had a non racing highlight when in the September 7th addition of National Speed Sport News he was featured in the Rising Stars section.

Ryan had a great drive that did not show in the results, at Irwindale, on Turkey Night. During practice laps Ryan was running 4th quick with the national pace. Then during time-ins Ryan and his crew missed the set up resulting in Ryan starting the main in 22nd place. He raced his way to 7th place by lap 65 and settled in behind Teddy Beach in order to save his tires for the last 20 laps when his motor blew, in the process he had the 3rd fast time of the night.
